Pokémon Card Rarity Guide

Common, Uncommon, and Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards are the most frequent rarities of cards, each increase in rarity usually reflects a higher evolution Pokémon or more powerful Trainer card. These cards are often identified through having one black circle, diamond, or star as their rarity symbol.

Double Rare are holographic Pokémon ex cards, notably having the art within a limited portion of the overall card space. These cards are often identified through having two black stars as their rarity symbol. 

Illustration rare are Full Art cards that showcase Pokémon in their natural environments and offer a closer look at their unique personalities. These cards are often identified by one gold stars as their rarity symbol.

Ultra Rare are Full-Pokémon or Supporter cards, often with a colorful or abstract background that draws attention to the center character. These cards are often identified through having two silver stars as their rarity symbol.

Special illustration rare are Full Art cards that showcase Pokémon/ Trainers in their natural environments and offer a closer look at their unique personalities. These cards are often identified by two gold stars as their rarity symbol. These are distinct from IR rarity as the Pokémon always have a Rule Box (ex, V, etc.)

ACE SPEC cards are powerful cards with the restriction that a deck is limited to at most a single ACE SPEC card of any sort. These cards are often identified by one magenta as their rarity symbol.
